afterthought (noun)- a thing that is thought of or added later.
synonyms:- reconsideration, review, second thought

For example:- The song was originally written as a guitar solo; the words were added as an afterthought.
- Mary was a bit of an afterthought- her brothers and sisters are all much older. (here, it means that Mary was added to the family later. =P) (P.S: I am not so sure about that!)
